The Department of Radiology at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has a fellowship opening in Musculoskeletal Radiology for July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027. The fellowship is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and available to individuals who have completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
The fellowship is designed to produce specialized, academically oriented musculoskeletal radiologists with superb clinical skills. Recently trained fellows have been placed in both academic and private practice positions.
The training program includes experience in all facets of diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal radiology in the setting of a busy academic medical center. The section has an excellent relationship with the departments of Orthopedic Surgery, Primary Care Sports Medicine, Podiatry, Rheumatology, and Oncology. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is a major referral center for bone and soft tissue sarcomas in North Carolina. Physicians from the departments of Orthopedic Surgery and Primary Care Sports Medicine serve as the team physicians for all Wake Forest University intercollegiate teams.
Clinical Training Highlights
The fellowship offers specialized training in the following areas:
- Musculoskeletal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound (US)
- Diagnostic and therapeutic joint injections and joint aspirations
- Bursal and tendon sheath aspirations and injections
- CT- and US-guided bone and soft tissue biopsies
- Radiofrequency tumor ablations and spinal interventions are performed through the Interventional Radiology Division, but can be made available to interested musculoskeletal imaging fellows
