Society of Skeletal Radiology Policy for Young Investigator Travel Award (YITA)
The purpose of this award is to:
- Encourage research submissions from young investigators by providing a travel grant to minimize the financial burden associated with attending the Society Annual meeting
- To provide meaningful recognition of the research done by young members of the Society.
Policy:
The Society Research Committee will review all applications and recommend recipients for the Young Investigator Travel Award. The Research Committee will establish appropriate award criteria and will make award recommendations to the Executive Committee. Individual awards are limited to $1000.00. Typically, up to three Young Investigator Travel Awards are granted each year, depending on application quality and available budget. The Research Committee will determine the number of awards given. The cash value of the awards will not exceed the budgeted amount as specified by the Executive Committee.
Award eligibility and the application procedure are as specified below.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this award, applicants must:
1. Be an SSR MIT (Member-In-Training).
OR
2. Be a current member of SSR within five years of completing their fellowship or equivalent training.
AND
3. Be submitting an abstract for presentation at the SSR 2026 Annual Meeting.
4. Not have previously received this award.
Application Procedure:
The deadline to submit documentation for the YITA is October 1, 2025. Applicants must submit the following documentation to the SSR Administrative Director ([email protected]):
- SSR abstract (please include abstract reference number).
- Current CV/Resume.
- A one-page summary of career goals and significance of attending the SSR Annual Meeting in achieving these goals.
- Letter of support from Departmental Chair, Section Chief, Company President or equivalent.
