Description: The University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a radiologist who is subspecialized in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology to support our rapidly growing MSK section. This individual is expected to make a significant impact in the field of musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology and related areas through innovations and to contribute to a collegial environment that will promote the clinical and academic growth of the section. The candidate is expected to provide clinical services; initiate research projects; actively engage in teaching for residents and fellows; and participate in quality improvement and value initiatives. The academic appointment will be at a rank commensurate with training and experience.
Qualifications: The candidate should be American Board of Radiology (or equivalent) certified or eligible, fellowship trained, and have a strong interest and experience in academic radiology. Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. The candidate should have strong research experience and prior evidence of research productivities.
Facilities and Institution: The Musculoskeletal radiology section provides diagnostic imaging and imaging guided procedural services at the University Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated premier cancer center, the University Orthopaedic Center, and multiple outpatient centers along the Wasatch Front. University of Utah Health is the official radiology and health care provider for the Utah Jazz (NBA), Utah Bees (Triple-A minor league baseball), US Olympic/Paralympic teams, and 19 University of Utah Utes collegiate athletic teams. Currently numbering 8 faculty members with three fellows, the section is known for excellence in clinical care, education and research. The Department offers an outstanding residency program in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology. Extensive imaging resources, including multiple MRIs, dual-energy CTs, intraoperative MRI, and PET-CT scanners which are available for clinical work and research. Pre-clinical imaging resources, such as micro PET-MRI and 7T MRI, are also available. Research opportunities abound, with a broad case mix from the sources described above, as well as the world-class unique support provided by the Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR) in the Department. UCAIR offers international expertise in imaging sciences, including basic sciences, physics and engineering, MRI research, and CT and PET research. The University of Utah Health Sciences offer various leadership programs and research training opportunities for faculty members. Location: The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, in the foothill of the Wasatch Mountains at the western edge of the Rocky Mountains.
