MSK FELLOWSHIP MATCH - IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SCARD EMBARGO

2023-24 SCARD Fellowship Embargo Guidelines

SCARD is pleased to announce the continuation of our fellowship embargo program. The program has been extremely successful in meeting its objectives of improving the fairness of the fellowship application process and providing our residents more time to experience all of Radiology sub-specialties before choosing their future career. In order to maintain flexibility, sub-specialties can either utilize the match or comply with the embargo dates. Based on feedback from many of you, we have made some significant changes to our guidelines, particularly regarding the first date of interviews. Below are the guidelines for this coming year (2023-24).

  1. Interviews- All interviews should be virtual.

  2. No onsite visits should be made by candidates.

  3. Dates

  • November 1, 2023 – First day to accept applications

  • November 1, 2023  – Open house webinars can begin

  • January 8, 2024  – First day of interviews

  • March 31, 2024 – Last day of interviews.

Onsite second visits are allowed. However, all programs should reassure candidates that the second visit is optional and is not being used by the programs as a de-facto second interview but purely to allow the applicant to get a better feel and understanding of their program. Second visits should not be used by the program to influence their rank list. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that no onsite visits are scheduled until after the program has prepared their final rank list which they agree not to change based on the second visit.

COMMON APPLICATION FORM

The SSR has developed a Common Application Form (DOWNLOAD FORM) for programs that elect to use it. Applicants must confirm with each program to which they will apply whether the program accepts the Common Application Form or uses a unique application form, and whether additional documents (e.g. CV, personal statement) are required by each program to complete the application process.

CONTACTS

Communication is critical as we begin the next phase of this process. Please contact the SSR if there are any changes in the status of your MSK fellowship, fellowship director or program coordinator.  Make sure that you follow the SSR Facebook page and Twitter feed (@SSRbone).

We thank you for your participation in this process, and look forward to working with you for a successful 2024 MSK Radiology Fellowship Match.

Sincerely,

SSR Executive Committee
