The MSK fellowship at Penn State covers the spectrum of musculoskeletal imaging, including sports medicine, joint replacement, trauma, tumors, and rheumatology. Penn State is a level 1 trauma center and a major referral center for complex orthopedic and pediatric cases in the region. Our fellow gains experience in conventional radiography, CT, MRI (sports injuries, arthritis, nerve imaging, and tumors), diagnostic ultrasound, CT and MR arthrography, Interventional procedures (CT, fluoro-, and ultrasound guided) including bone and soft tissue aspiration and biopsy, diagnostic and therapeutic injections of peripheral joints and percutaneous tumor ablation. Monthly interdisciplinary conference experience with Orthopedic Oncology, Rheumatology, and Sarcoma colleagues is enjoyed in a collegial environment as well as bimonthly journal club, hands-on MSK ultrasound training, and arthroscopy correlation conference.
The position also offers Clinical Faculty experience with a weekly assignment in the Emergency Department supervising a resident in the interpretation of adult imaging studies. Fellows receive additional compensation for their independent clinical faculty work. Applicants must have an MD/DO degree from an accredited institution, satisfactorily completed an ACGME-accredited radiology residency, be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Radiology and be able to obtain a full medical license in the state of Pennsylvania prior to the start of the fellowship.
